Tell us about a transformative educational experience.
I directed a play in college, and I learned how to communicate with actors and what’s helpful. I’ve been able to apply it to my own acting. My cousin tells me my life is a coming of age movie, so I started writing a young adult novel that I want to finish this year.
What about transformative professional experiences?
I was on a film set last year for a crime recreation show, and I portrayed a real person who had gone through really horrible things. I had to recount all of them to the police and relive it. I felt like I really had to be her, because she’s a real living person, not just someone somebody wrote. I also had to use a gun on set, and I just couldn’t get comfortable with it. It was just awful, but after I was on that set, my friend and I watched “Kill Bill volume 2,” and I saw Uma Thurman punch her way out of the box, and something clicked that you get boxed in sometimes, and you just have to find the thing inside that makes you become.
Why I do what I do...
My grandparents took me to a play when I was two or three, and they thought I may be too little for it. My brother asked them questions about the lights and how everything worked. (He’s an engineer now). I never got distracted and I was very quiet until the ride home when I told them Christopher Robbin and I were in love. I thought I was apart of it.

My favorite "day-off" event would be...
Barnes & Noble day and watching really good movies.
If I had one million dollars I would...
I’d give it to my Mom and Dad.
Did you know...
I’m ambidextrous.
The Muppets speak to my soul.
I’ve always thought Mary Poppins was condescending.
