Danny Travieso (Company Member)

Danny attended El Camino Community College for musical theater, simply to use the GI Bill to get some extra money. He was out of cash and musical theater’s dance classes didn’t require him to purchase any text books. He soon fell in love with the acting classes, and then shifted his focus to pursue a life as an actor. Danny then went to New York Film Academy to get an associates in acting for film, and then shortly after discovered ECT.

Getting To Know... Danny

Tell us about a transformative educational experience.

The best experiences have been being part of an ensemble that I can trust. All the wonderful technique I learn is certainly a close second, but definitely taking a risk and exposing myself, and having that exposure supported by other artist’s without judgement, has really freed me up in my art and made me want the best for everyone. Being in an environment where I can trust those around me to allow me to try anything allows me true freedom in the art.

What about transformative professional experiences?

Acting in “Three Sisters” was my most transformative professional experience. I got to use all the tools in an environment that supported and understood them all. So I got a real sense of where my strengths and weaknesses were and tangible knowledge of how to move forward.

Why I do what I do...

I believe that people experience pain in life, so that they can understand that pain, and offer help to others that experience something similar. I always try to remember that there are always other people, who experience the same type of pain as me. Those other people, may not be as lucky as me. People who survive pain, can throw someone a line, in situations, where they themselves were never thrown one. I do what I do because with the art you can throw people a line, that wasn’t thrown to you. And people deserve to be thrown a line.

What about ECT inspires you?

I don’t really know how to describe it. I find all the elements at ECT that have come together to produce what it is, to be miracle of probability. I feel that it is a place that not only permits infinite potential, but is also filled with a group of individuals willing and wanting to take up that permission.

Where have you traveled? Where would you like to visit?

I've traveled to Puerto Rico, Mexico, Seattle, Texas, South Carolina, Chicago and I've done a road trip across the country. I want to travel the world.

My favorite "day-off" event would be...

Freely experiencing all types of art, without the pressures of life to take away my awareness or acceptance of what the art means.

If I had one million dollars I would...

Invest it all in my dreams. Use it to remove every possible block that stops me from creating what I want to create.

Did you know...

I love cats.

I love researching strange and unusual art. The weirder the better, because it’s always interesting how people just explore semblances and come up with random wild discoveries.

I love to cook.
