Kate Slinger (Resident Artist)

Kate is excited to begin her first season with ECT. Originally from Minneapolis, MN, she has been acting ever since she was a small child in church and school plays. She went on to get her BFA in Acting from Viterbo University, as well as a Semester Diploma in Classical Acting from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA). Kate has also enjoyed working behind the scenes in scenic painting and construction, costuming and props design. When she isn't out exploring new places all over LA, she is staying connected to her Swedish roots through crafting for her Etsy shop and making old family recipes. She is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join this group of artists, and to grow and develop her craft with them.

Getting To Know... Kate

Tell us about a transformative educational experience.

During my time studying at LAMDA, I was immersed in an incredible educational experience. I had the opportunity to work under numerous professional actors from the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, and several other companies. A combination of intensive classwork, performing in a variety of classical productions, and experiencing a dynamic range of captivating theatre, ignited a hunger in me to create compelling stories.

What about transformative professional experiences?

Since graduating college and entering into the professional world, I've worked on a number of fun projects in both film and theatre, but I felt that something was missing. I am excited to have this opportunity to work at Elysium so that I can be in an environment that invites me to be open and grow in my artistry.

Why I do what I do...

I have always been imaginative, and have loved hearing people's stories. Acting gives me a platform to use my imagination to try and see what life is like from their perspective. Although I'm telling someone else's story, I always discover a new part of myself in them, and getting to share that is the most incredible feeling in the world.

What about ECT inspires you?

I am excited to be part of a group that uplifts and challenges each other as artists and as people. Then, coming together to apply all that we've learned towards telling timeless stories.

Where have you traveled? Where would you like to visit?

England, Wales, Ireland, Paris and 22 states. Dream - EVERYWHERE! Top choices: Scandinavia, Spain, Portugal, India, Eastern Europe, Egypt and Turkey.

My favorite "day-off" event would be...

Exploring a new part of Los Angeles.

If I had one million dollars I would...

Travel the world!

Did you know...

I have gypsy relatives.

I'll happily drink coffee no matter the time of day or how cold the coffee is.

I could live off a diet of popcorn and red wine.

I'm kick ass with a band saw.
