Lara Repko (Company Member)

Lara Repko lives the quintessential LA post-grad lifestyle: she works at a cycle studio, loves kombucha, and is usually stuck in traffic. She received her BFA Theatre Performance degree from Chapman University where she studied the techniques of Fitzmaurice, Linklater, and the Suzuki Method, to name a few. Additional training includes a Shakespeare intensive at RADA and improvisation and storytelling classes at Upright Citizens Brigade. Lara loves performing on-stage and on-camera alike and has a keen aptitude for telling children’s bedtime stories.

Getting To Know... Lara

Tell us about a transformative educational experience.

Auditioning for college productions taught me about how many talented students surround me. I may be skilled and good at what I do but that there are so many people around me who are those things and more. This may discourage some but I see it is a welcome opportunity to improve and learn from my peers.

What about transformative professional experiences?

Meeting with commercial agents taught me that I am a business. And like a business, I must sell myself. This is an incredibly vital skill that so many of us don't learn until after we graduate. Thankfully, I began to learn how to sell myself and my business in my Business of Acting course in college. The real lesson, however, began when I stepped foot into the audition world.

Why I do what I do...

My ultimate goal is to be a role model for girls and women by telling coming-of-age stories that we rarely see. Girlhood and growing up is messy, embarrassing, melancholy, exciting, and absolutely fascinating and we don’t often see these contrasting dynamics on-screen. I want to create stories that showcase girls as giddy, insightful, sexual, hopeful, naive, wizened, serious, conflicted, and light-hearted all at the same time.

What about ECT inspires you?

The company is tenacious in their quest for truth. They welcome with open arms and never judge. I admire the friendliness of the other company members and the professional nature in which they approach their “homework” and exercises.

Where have you traveled? Where would you like to visit?

Part of my family lives in England and it is a second home to me. I am so thankful for having parents who could afford to give this invaluable gift to me in my child and teenage-hood.

My favorite "day-off" event would be...

Discovering new coffee shops, driving with the windows down with my best friends, discovering new music, going to the beach, walking barefoot in the street at 7 pm - ice cream cone in hand.

If I had one million dollars I would...

Fund a mini-series about a Catholic all-girls high school, based off of my teenage experiences.
