Danny Travieso (Summer 2017)

Advice For Day One...

I wish I’d known, to keep an open and focused mind, and to not cling at all to what I thought I knew about acting. I learned acting at a deeper level here than anywhere else I’ve been to, and I’ve been to and checked out all the best schools in Los Angeles. Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg, they’re all great schools, but they don’t delve as deep into the mechanics of humanity as this school does. So I wasn’t ready, to fully understand what we’re doing here at first. I wasn’t ready for that type of thinking. I wish I had come with a blank slate, with no preconceptions. This is obviously impossible, but basically, just know that you’re going to be learning things here that you’ve never learned before. You have to be completely alert, accepting and curious. These tools not only make up a full acting technique, but are from the perspective of accessing your humanity at the deepest level. Try to master each one, even if you don’t fully understand it at first.

At the end you’ll have a full tool set to access your humanity, but you have to make each tool as strong as possible as you learn it. Take nothing for granted, trust the process, and dive in fully. Because you’ll be learning deeper information here, that other LA Actors don’t know.
